How to make someone a birthday surprise website
A birthday surprise website is a link they open on their phone: their name and age among balloons, a box that opens with your present inside, your photos and a short letter. No coding, and with Premium ($19.99) it stays closed until 00:00 on their birthday, the first thing waiting for them.

The example

You can change all of it before you send it. Free, no sign-up.
What they see when they open the link
- An envelope with their name on it and a line you choose, like “It's officially your day.”
- Their name and age forming among balloons, with the greeting you wrote.
- A box they tap to open, with your present inside: a ticket, a coupon, a trip or a note.
- Your photos, one after another, in the order you put them.
- Your letter, up to 400 characters, signed with your name.
It opens in the browser on any phone or computer. They don't install anything or sign up, and you can change any line after you send it: the same link updates.

Have it open at midnight on their birthday
The best moment for a birthday surprise is 00:00, before the group chat wakes up and the texts start piling in. With Premium ($19.99, a one-time payment) you pick their birthday and the gift stays closed until midnight. If they open the link early, they see a countdown, not the surprise.
- Make the gift: their name, the box, your photos and the letter.
- In “Schedule or send by email,” choose “Schedule for 00:00” and pick the day.
- Add their email if you want it delivered for you. It arrives from [email protected] with your name, right when it opens. Leave it empty and you share the link yourself.
- Publish it. You can do all this weeks ahead, up to a year before, and still change the letter until the day.
Midnight is counted in your time zone. If they live in another one, choose a date and time instead and set their midnight in your time: from New York to someone in Los Angeles, that's 3 AM.
Birthday surprise website ideas: what to put in the box
A ticket for something you'll do together
A show, a game, a dinner reservation. It works best when you're apart on the day, like Olivia: the present is the next time you'll see each other.
A coupon they can actually redeem
“One Saturday where I plan everything” or “breakfast in bed, your pick.” Write it like you mean to keep it, with a detail that only fits them.
A trip
The destination and the dates, nothing more. Seeing “Asheville, June 12 to 15” come out of the box does more than a long explanation.
Just a note
If the present is physical and already on its way, use the box to say where to look or when it arrives, and let the letter do the rest.

When something else works better
A group video, if you want everyone in it
Here the page is from you. If you want twenty friends to each record a message, tools like Birthday Hello or Kudoboard are made for collecting them in one link.
A video call to blow out the candles
If you're far apart, a call at the same hour, each of you with a cupcake, is hard to beat. Send the link right after you hang up, so the day ends on it.
Showing up
If you can get there, go. A link doesn't compete with a knock on the door, and it makes a good teaser for the visit.
A longer letter
If what you want to say doesn't fit in 400 characters, a digital love letter gives you a whole page for it.
What to write
Happy birthday to the person who makes ordinary Tuesdays feel like a plan. I wish I were there to sing badly at you. Next year, I will be.
Twelve years of you knowing exactly when to text and when to just show up with snacks. Happy 30th, Jess. The box is non-negotiable, we're going.
Happy birthday, Dad. You taught me to change a tire and to always call when I land. I'm calling now. Open the box.
What it costs
You make it for free and see the whole gift before deciding anything. With the Free plan it carries the bemypresent signature and opens once, within 24 hours of publishing. Pro ($9.99) removes the signature and lets them open it again whenever they want. Premium ($19.99) adds the midnight opening and the email delivery. Both are one-time payments per gift, not subscriptions.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free birthday surprise website?
Yes. You can make and send this one on the Free plan: it opens once, within 24 hours of publishing, and carries the bemypresent signature. Scheduling it for midnight needs Premium.
Can I make one for my boyfriend or girlfriend?
Yes, and for a best friend or a parent too. Their name goes on the envelope and among the balloons, and the letter says whatever you write.
Can I send the link on WhatsApp or by text?
Yes. When you publish it you get a link to send any way you like. With Premium it can also go to their email at 00:00.
Can friends add their own messages?
No, the page is from you. To collect messages from a group, use a group card or video tool and send our link as your own part of it.
Can I add music or a video?
Not on this gift: it has your photos, the box and your letter. If there's a song that matters, send it in the same message as the link.
